The Alphabet Club

Finding this old magazine just reminded me of all the amazing adventures we've had as the Alphabet Club these past 4 years.  I remember when Caroline put this in my mailbox after having heard about our class adventure and thinking of all the possibilities of Cincinnati.  I never would have thought that we'd become such a close family, that I'd look to these people lovingly and in awe at how good they truly are.  Of all the random funny moments we would have, the reputation of being the closest knit and, at the same time, most ridiculous class that ever set foot in Cincinnati.  It's almost fitting that we never did Z because we're not done as a class yet.  We'll still have our camping trips, more kids to come and fill our already bursting lives...bursting with love and laughter.

Moving Day- an emotional day- June 22, 2011

Today has been a day of tears and laughter.  I started out the day finishing my last shift in the ED, slept a little, then headed to my last day of clinic.  The tears started tingling when one of my patients started crying when I told her I was leaving, then they flowed when I hugged my med peds crew for the last time for a bit.  In between, we were able to make fun of Corey's calves, prevent any children from running in the street, and get gawked at by every passerby in Hyde Park intrigued by our circus show.

Our Divorce Party- June 18, 2011

While Kim and I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage, we still thought we'd have a little fun with our upcoming separation as I move to Portland and she finishes her 5th year of residency.  In light of our theme, we had a reverse gift registry and a game called Division of Assets.  The best part was having an excuse to see my friends before I left Cincinnati.

Med Peds Picnic/Graduation- June 18, 2011

I look forward to the Med Peds picnic at Caroline's every year, but this year was special.  Our class, "Caroline's Favorites" were graduating and my emotions burst through in tears.  Tears that this was one of the last times we would all be together for a while.  Nostalgia aside, it was a good time...Caroline loved her gift, was totally surprised by our photo, and a few words of kindness and truth were exchanged between us all, descriptions of why we are such amazing people individually and together as a class.

Medicine Graduation- June 4, 2011

The Medicine graduation had a distinctly different feel to it than the peds graduation.  We all had a good laugh with Arvin's roast.  A few tears were shed, but all because this residency has meant so much to us.

Pool Jumping- June 15, 2011

Every year the graduating class gives Caroline a class photo and this year we decided to do it in style...alphabet club style.  We decided there was no better way than to break into Caroline's back yard and take a pic of our class jumping into her pool.  Can't wait to see the look on her face.  Bonus- no casualties along the way, though we almost lost Corey before we even got the photo.

Alphabet Club March Birthdays- Mar 30, 2011

March and April are popular birthday months for our crew and so we celebrated Cheryl, Tara, and Abby's b-days at El Rancho Grande (our E from years past) with frozen margaritas and Mexican food.  The kids were running around as usual and our family continues to grow as we took up a whole row of tables.  Dawn's soon-to-be-born baby behaved and waited another day for her induction into the world of the March babies.
