My mom could not stop going on about Savannah's charm and it's rare ability to have maintained it through all these years. I must admit, I really enjoyed seeing all the architecture and hearing about all the history.
Despite the fact that I'm from landlocked Kansas, I love, love, love the sound of the ocean and the breeze of the beach. Wilmington is a beautiful seaside town, unencumbered by the heavy tourism that hits most towns like this.
So no pictures here, as I was stuck in a black hole reading the thousand of pages of the Twilight Series. Oh Bella and Edward... Sigh. Sadly, I'm only wishing there were more now. :)
If possible, the 2nd annual med-peds camping trip was just as good as the first. We perfected our hobo pack and banana boat skills. We added a trio of babies to our crew. And most importantly, we all got to be together and spend some time as a class, away from work. The lake was beautiful and the weather was ideal.
The most exciting and hope-filled day for Bengals fans is opening day. It's the day the hometown team is still tied for first with a chance of going 1-0. Unfortunately the go-ahead touchdown with 30s to go was not enough. On a freak play, the Broncos scored the go ahead run shattering the dreams of the Bengals faithful. The most fascinating part of the game for me was how crazy eveyone gets dressed up for the game, bengals-colored boas, jerseys, beards dyed with orange-black patterns. Our group was a little less loyal with a random compilation of college hats and apparel.
This is the first year that I've actually been in Cincinnati for Labor Day and I was excited to finally get to see the fireworks. Unlike most cities that celebrate with a huge display on July 4th, Cinci saves the big explosions for Labor Day. Any excuse to party is a good one, so we went up to Tara's roof, had some good food, some wine, and enjoyed the show.
The prodigal resident returns... Crystal came back from Detroit for a break from the good life of dermatology and to see all of us 'Nati-ites for the weekend. After all of Brandi's talk, we decided to check out Papademmos and it didn't disappoint. I was completely stuffed even before dessert. Good times.
To commemorate the ridiculousness of our long GI month, the team got together at Buco di Beppo's for a team dinner. Just as crazy as the month had been, Anne reserved the "pope" table for us which I later found to mean that we would be enclosed in a circular room lined with pope memorabilia including a life-sized pope bust in the middle of the lazy-susan.
