The National Palace Museum- Sept 1, 2008

90% of China's cultural heritage including artwork ranging from paintings to pottery is displayed in Taiwan's most famous museum. When Chiang Kai-Chek fled China, he took with him quite a loot. All the art was painstakingly detailed including solid ivory balls with 17 balls carved within each other and sharing a common center. Even the desserts here are quite delicate and beautiful in their detail.

Taipei 101- World's Tallest Building- August 31, 2008

Taipei 101 is the world's tallest building...for now and has the world's fastest elevator. It's amazing how the engineered this bamboo-shaped structure, especially in the face of frequent earthquakes here in seismic Taiwan. I guess that's what the giant damper baby is for.

Back to the Homeland- Taiwan- Aug 30, 2008

Going back to Taiwan meant reaquainting myself with a lot of my family. Being with all of them makes me wonder what it would have been like to grow up with lots of girls my age, like more sisters. Otherwise, these are pictures of my cousin's condo and family.

Camping in Clifty Falls, IN- Aug 15-17, 2008

So the Alphabet Club decided to cross state lines and go for what hopes to be the first annual camping trip. For some, like the Wood's it was their first excursion under the stars while others like the Nye's had the camp fire cooking down to an art. For others, a game of throwing rocks at an errant beer can floating downstream,0 as shown in this pic, was just the ticket. I meanwhile just enjoyed the fresh air, hiking, and being away from the hospital.

Cincinnati Masters Tennis Tournament- July 30-31, 2008

So Kim and I both scored tickets from work for the tennis tournament, actually a pretty good one in the ATP Masters Series. I got to watch Nadal and the Bryan brothers for the first time which was very exciting. We even had a count going on how often Rafa picked at his wedgy per game. All this was of course preceded by our Andy Roddick sighting at Children's and my obvious amusement.

M for Madison Bowl- July 17, 2008

Everyone loves bowling, especially the alphabet club. I tried my hardest to break 100, while Brian and Jeff were rocking out the mid 100s.
